Elstree also has its own aerodrome - a busy, general aviation airfield. Around 120 aircraft are based at the 70-acre site, which has a 656 metre runway. Many companies are based at the Aerodrome including Cabair Group of Aviation companies who operate over 100 aeroplanes and helicopters (visit this company to treat yourself to a helicopter sightseeing ride over London!). Capital Radio's Flying Eye used this aerodrome.
There are only a handful of shops in this small town including a convenience store. However this town is often considered part of Borehamwood where there is a large shopping area.
